Lose weight, save money, eat healthier, go to the gym. These are all common New Year's resolutions. For 2018 I decided to try something a bit different. I decided to make my New Year's resolution be to celebrate a different holiday everyday. There are more national, international, state and other random holidays than you might think. In fact, there's multiple holidays every single day! We all know that February 14 is Valentine's Day, but did you know that January 29 is National Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day? That's not even the weirdest one.
So how did I get into this? I get that question a lot. If you know me at all you'll know that I love holidays and I love going all out. "Go big or go home" is a phrase I say a lot. I plan my Halloween costume months in advance, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be wearing a lot of green on St. Patrick's Day, and it wouldn't be Christmas if I wasn't up at 5am to open presents. It's not just holidays I celebrate. I like any excuse to dress up, be silly, or have fun. Midnight movie premiere? I'm there and in costume. It's someone's birthday at work? I'm there with a cake and candles! I just feel like celebrating things makes life more fun. So, with all the random holidays it was in my element to know about a few. I've always found this type of thing entertaining and so one day in class (if I put as much commitment into paying attention during lecture as I do celebrating random holidays I'd be a straight A student) I started researching these random holidays. It was nearing the end of the year and as I started writing each one down it seemed like the perfect New Year's resolution. I've been having a lot of fun with this, so I decided I might as well document my year of holidays, and if you're interested follow along, and feel free to celebrate with me!
Me randomly dressed as Darth Vader, because why not?
