JANUARY 15: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
I'm horrible and kind of skimped on this holiday since work and school were drowning me, so I just watched some video on Facebook about MLK day.
JANUARY 16: Religious Freedom Day
Things aligned really great today, because somehow, on National Religious Freedom Day, the LDS church had a press conference. The press conference was naming President Nelson as the new prophet and announcing the new first presidency. It was neat to get to see my prophet speak on a day celebrating religious freedom, and it made me grateful to live in a country where I am free to be a Mormon.
JANUARY 17: International Italian Cuisine Day
I was super busy today. I didn't have time for a whole Italian meal, but I did have time to stop at Shirley's Bakery and get an Italian soda. Duffy and I went and got them and I brought one to my manager Julie at work.
JANUARY 18: Peking Duck Day
I was absolutely stumped about today's holiday. I was on campus for twelve hours and my options for the holiday were Peking Duck, Thesaurus, and Winnie the Pooh. It's a good thing that, like the Beatles, I get by with a little help from my friends (but unlike the Beatles, I'm not talking about drugs). My friend Brennan texted me asking about the holidays and, feeling discouraged, I texted him my options. He suggested going to the duck pond and feeding the ducks. Hey if we weren't going to eat Peking Duck, at least we could fatten them up incase someone else did. Or maybe Brennan thought I said pecking duck. Either way it worked.
So at 10 o' clock at night, me and my friends grabbed my old loaf of bread and we went to the duck pond and fed the ducks. It was surprisingly fun. Sometimes the unexpected, random things you don't usually do make the best memories.
JANUARY 19: Popcorn Day
The night before I had prepared for Popcorn Day by going to Harmon's with my friends Brennan, Craig, and Duffy and bought Oreo and Chips A'hoy flavored popcorn (sounds weird, but they were on sale) and some black salt. On popcorn day my friends Parker, Kam, and I made black salt popcorn and put it in my Star Wars popcorn bin.
JANUARY 20: MANDI DAY
Okay, first off I'm going to preface this by saying I love my birthday. It is by far my favorite day of the year. I love birthday's in general. I just feel like everyone needs at least one day a year where people think about them and say "Hey you're awesome!" so birthdays are a big deal to me.
When looking to January 20 for holidays, there were some good ones, but I told all my friends "We're celebrating the best holiday on January 20: Mandi Day." and so we did.
My birthday ended up starting off the day before, because my amazing coworkers surprised me at work with a crown, sash, button that said "birthday girl" and a cake lit with 22 candles. It was awesome. Shoutout to Drew and Mckay for making it happen, because it definitely was one of my favorite moments this year.
Here's me with my cute coworkers. Needless to say, my tips were pretty good that night in my birthday getup. (Not my birthday suit people).
On my birthday I went to breakfast with my parents, got my manicures with my friend Kayla, and went and played Blaster Tag with my friends (Jessica, Rocky, Kayla, Duffy, Parker, Brey, Craig, Brennan, and Jared). It was a blast! (Pun intended)
Then we all went to Happy Sumo for dinner and then back to my apartment for cake and games. So it was a pretty great day! Fun all day is definitely my kind of day. Also check out the cool cake my mom got for me:

(I was smiling like this all day)
JANUARY 21: Granola Bar Day/Hugging Day
I brought a giant box of granola bars over to my friends and we all munched on them. Also I gave lots of hugs to people. Sometimes it can be easy to celebrate.
So moral of this week: don't forget to spend time celebrating yourself! You are awesome and you deserve a day where you remember that. Also be jealous because I have the best friends, family, and coworkers out there!
