MAY 21: Waitstaff Day
Waitstaff? Hey that's ME! I was pretty excited to see this holiday on the calendar because I'm a waitress. I celebrated the day by...going to work. I know, sounds pretty lame, but what better way to celebrate being a waitress than waiting tables. I did right on the board "HAPPY NATIONAL WAITSTAFF DAY" and enthusiastically tell all of my coworkers.
MAY 22: Solitaire Day
I've always loved Solitaire ever since I learned it as a little girl. My personal favorite version is Spiderette. I remember playing Solitaire on cards when I was young, then on my iPod video when that came out. Now I usually just play it on an app on my phone, but there is something about playing it on good old playing cards.
MAY 23: Lucky Penny Day
I've always been that kid that picks up every penny they find on the ground. My mom used to joke that I was rich because I had a knack for finding money on the ground, and hey, when you're four seven cents does seem pretty rich.
On Lucky Penny Day me and my friends Duffy and Brey went up to Tsunami to get sushi. Side note, but I'd never been there and it was delicious! I got the executive roll. Anyways, with the tip I left the waiter a extra lucky penny. Don't worry, I gave him a good tip as well. I am a waitress after all.
MAY 24: Red Nose Day
Red Nose Day is a holiday held by Walgreens where they sell red noses to people and the money goes to a charity for impoverished children.
I stopped at Walgreens on my way to work and bought the rest of their red noses so all of my coworkers could have one. We managed to lose a bunch by doing stupid things like throwing them at each other, but we saved enough that a few of us could take a picture at the end of the shift.
Also, snapchat had a Red Nose DAy filter going, so I had some fun with that:
MAY 25: Towel Day
Okay, what is Towel Day? Have you ever read A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Well, in the book it states that the most important thing you can carry with you is a towel, hence Towel Day. I'd never read A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, so I discovered it all on this day.
I promptly went to my favorite bookstore, Pioneer Book, and unfortunately, they didn't have any copies of the Hitchhiker's Guide in that day, but I did buy the rest of the series. I wasn't giving up on my quest to find the book just yet though. I went to Barnes and Noble and bought the book and went home and read it. It was a pretty good book. Pretty strange, but for some weird reason I liked it.
MAY 26: Cherry Dessert Day
I ended up coming down with the flu and I was so sick that they sent me home from work. Luckily, my parents helped me out and bought me all of the little cherry flavored treats they could find!
Thank goodness for them for saving the day!
MAY 27: Grape Popsicle
I was still really sick on Grape Popsicle Day, but luckily my mom came in clutch again and got me some. Grape Popsicles are also a pretty good thing when you have a sore throat, so it worked out pretty well.
Not a bad week in the world of celebrating holidays! It wasn't my favorite week through this whole thing, but it was fun to celebrate the little things to brighten my day!
