| Me, earlier today, on Mandi Day 2021 (it's past midnight now, so technically it's January 21) |
Hi everybody (or probably nobody, since I abandoned this blog). I'm not sure what possessed me to write this update. Maybe it's just in case someone stumbles across this blog, or probably just for myself, but I want you to know that I did indeed finish my New Years resolution of celebrating a different holiday every day in 2018.
Why did I not write about it? Several reasons: I had an extremely busy semester (it was my last full time semester with some pretty time consuming classes), my mom broke her leg, I have ADHD and am a procrastinator extreme, and, the main reason I believe, is that most of my friends graduated and moved away and it was really hard to keep the motivation to go all out without them there since it wasn't quite as fun celebrating the holidays by myself.
I got burnt out of the holidays. I did a lot of easy way out celebrating like eating some cashews on cashew day. It's hard to write an interesting blog when you're like "hey guys, this week I ate a cashew! Join me next weeks for some more exciting insights into my life!" Eventually I got so behind that I couldn't remember in detail what I did every day and the stress of feeling behind was constantly on my mind so I eventually had to let it go. Yes, I regret not finishing my blog, but oh well, we all have regrets.
2018 ended up being one of the most fun years of my life and I am so glad I made such a seemingly dumb New Years resolution. I'm really proud of completing my resolution even if it took a lot of time and money. I'm so grateful for the I had during that year and for the support of my friends and family who went along with my eagerness to do something silly and different.
Time has gone on, most of my friends from the blog got married and/or moved away. I graduated too. I'm still at the Trolley though, but I'm the general manager now. I might post some pictures sometime of what I did for some of the holidays in the second half of 2018, or maybe I'll never post again. You never know where life can bring you back to, or where you'll never revisit again. Thanks for reading, even if it's a bit silly and have a happy National Squirrel Appreciation Day!
