Week 5: Bubble Wrap, Bubble Gum, and First Month Done

JANUARY 29: Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day
Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day was one I definitely couldn't miss. Duffy and I went to Smith's and luckily enough they sell bubble wrap! I bought three rolls, gave one to Duffy so she could at least have a little bit of fun while doing homework, and they went over to my friends' to pop some bubble wrap. Kayla and I decided to have a mini dance party on the bubble wrap, which got us laughing pretty hard. We were wearing heels and jumping up and down to pop these bubbles, so the apartment below us probably thought something crazy was going on (they'd be right).

JANUARY 30: Croissant Day
I've been obsessed with croissants ever since my study abroad took me to Paris last June. Honestly, I ate a bazillion of those things while I was there. They're not like the ones we have here; they're flaky and moist and buttery, with the perfect amount of soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Unfortunately, going to Paris for croissant day would only happen in books, so I had to do the next best thing: get a sandwich on a croissant out of the vending machine. Okay, probably not the next best thing, but for being on campus twelve hours that day, it was the best I could do.

JANUARY 31: Inspire Your Heart with Art Day
I had several options to celebrate this day with, I mean I am from Art City. Springville is known for it's Art Museum after all. I called up my sister, Jessica, to see if she wanted to get inspired with me and since she was on campus we opted for the BYU Art Museum instead. It was pretty fun getting out and doing something I don't usually do, especially since I spend so much time at BYU and hardly ever get over to the MOA. My favorite part: the gift shop. Okay, I know, I'm that person, but they have so many cool, random things in there!
Me getting inspired by a statue, or maybe it's the blue walls, they're a pretty great color

FEBRUARY 1: Texas Day
I did it! I made it through an entire month without missing a single holiday! That was a pretty impressive feat, but I still had eleven months to go. So, how to kick it off? National Texas Day. I've never been to Texas, so at first I was kind of stumped, but hey you can always find a way to celebrate something. Sometimes you just have to think outside of the box. Luckily, some of my best friends, Parker and Breyton, are from Texas, so I figured what better way to celebrate Texas than hanging out with my favorite Texans? Shoutout to the great state of Texas for producing some pretty great guys.

FEBRUARY 2: Bubble Gum Day
Naturally, National Bubble Gum Day = bubble blowing contest, so I went to CVS with my friends and bought the biggest bag of bubble gum I could find. It was even on clearance! We soon found out why though, it was the hardest bubble gum I'd ever had. It could've been sitting there waiting for me to buy it since 1973 for all I could tell.  This was me about twenty minutes in:

After much chewing, I finally got it soft enough that I could soon blow sizable bubbles, and then nothing could stop me. AKA I had gum all over my face, even stuck in my eyelashes. I think I won the contest for biggest bubble, though I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who kept trying after the gum was rock hard.

FEBRUARY 3: Carrot Cake Day
Luckily for me I work at the restaurant with the best carrot cake out there. I was pumped when I went into work that day. I planned on up-selling carrot cake all shift! Unfortunately, we had a shortage of carrot cake that day, so my plan didn't work. I did buy a slice to take home at the end of my shift though, so I could still celebrate, despite the shortage.

FEBRUARY 4: Stuffed Mushroom Day
I had been looking forward to this day since the beginning of my holiday celebrations this year. Why? Because Stuffed Mushroom Day happened to fall on Super Bowl Sunday, and they seemed like a great Super Bowl food. Me and my friends had a great party where everyone brought delicious food. I personally made stuffed mushrooms, buffalo wings, and 7 layer dip. Like I always say: go big or go home.
I stuffed my mushrooms with cream cheese, parmesan, green onions, mushroom stems, and topped them with bread crumbs. I'd never made stuffed mushrooms before, and I think they turned out pretty well!

All in all, a pretty great week filled with friends, food, and lots of fun!
