MARCH 19: Chocolate Caramel Day
There is a cake I often make for birthdays at the Trolley called Better Than Sex Cake. Conveniently, it was one of my coworkers birthdays who didn't want to be celebrated, but still likes cake. I made the cake and brought it to work for chocolate caramel day. That way my coworker got to eat cake, but didn't have to have to recognition for it, it was the best of both worlds. Not loving being celebrated on your birthday is something I don't understand, but I like celebrating, you all saw Mandi Day.
Here's how you make the cake:
In a 9x13 inch baking dish cook one box of chocolate cake mix according to directions.
Once you pull the cake out of the oven poke holes into cake and fill the holes with caramel sweetened condensed milk. (Many recipes call for just sweetened condensed milk, or caramel AND sweetened condensed milk, but I like using the caramel sweetened condensed milk).
Wait for the cake to cool completely. This takes awhile and makes me pretty impatient, but it's definitely worth it so the frosting doesn't fall flat.
For the frosting mix 16 oz. of Cool Whip with chocolate Nesquick powder to liking. (Better Than Sex Cake usually just calls for Cool Whip, but my favorite cake (made by my Grandma Mansfield) has this chocolate Cool Whip frosting, so I combined that with this recipe and it's heavenly!) Spread over completely cooled cake.
Drizzle caramel over the frosting and top with Heath bar bits. Refrigerate over night.
MARCH 20: Ravioli Day
"Ravioli, ravioli, give me the formuoli." I think of that quote from SpongeBob every time I hear the word "ravioli." For Ravioli Day, I looked up where the best places to get ravioli in Provo to-go were, since my window for eating Ravioli was my lunch break in-between classes. A couple of reviews suggested the fried ravioli from Nicolitalia. I got the ravioli, and it was pretty burnt, but still pretty good, so if it hadn't been burnt I'm sure it would have been amazing.
MARCH 21: Sing It Out Loud Day
For Sing It Out Loud Day I drove around in my car blasting music and singing it at the top of my lungs. Hey, that's already one of my favorite things, so I was very down for this holiday.
MARCH 22: Bavarian Crepe Day
On Bavarian Crepe Day I decided to go to Roll Up Crepes. I ended up getting a ham and cheese crepe, so I'm not sure how Bavarian it was, but it was still celebrating the holiday, because crepes. Plus I just really wanted something savory for dinner.
MARCH 23: Chips and Dip Day
My friends and I were going to Vegas for the weekend, so I went to the store before we left and bought chips and dip to stuff in my suitcase so we could eat them that night. It took up a bit of room in my suitcase, and the chips were a little crushed by the time we ate them, but it was all worth it in the name of celebrating holidays.
MARCH 24: Chocolate Covered Raisin Day
Before we went to the club that night we stopped by the store and I got some chocolate covered raisins. I didn't get any pictures of the raisins, but here's a picture of my friends and I at the club:
MARCH 25: Tolkien Reading Day
I've been reading the Lord of the Rings series for awhile now, I've been pretty busy with life, so I've been stuck on the Two Towers for a year or so, but I'm determined to finish, so today was a perfect excuse to make some headway on it.
By the way, the lipstick I'm wearing in this picture is from clubbing the night before. I had showered, eaten, and many other things and the lipstick was still going strong. I got it from Smith's Marketplace and it is seriously the best thing ever.
