FEBRUARY 26: Tell A Fairy Tale Day
What's your favorite Fairy Tale? Everyone has one that resonates with them. Don't deny it, even you guys. I've always loved Cinderella. When I was a little girl it was because she had a pretty blue dress, but now it's because she was kind and a good person and she ended up having good things happen to her because of it. Life's not always that simple, but sometimes it's nice to hear fairy tales where it is. I had just watched the live action Cinderella with my friends so I wasn't going to watch that again (if you haven't seen it it's amazing!). I went on Netflix and saw that Ella Enchanted was on there. Since I hadn't seen it in years I decided to watch that. I forgot what a good movie it was.
FEBRUARY 27: Pokemon Day
Now I didn't have brothers, so I didn't grow up with Pokemon. I do know a bit about it from the whole Pokemon Go craze two summers ago. Some of my friends really love Pokemon so they were pretty excited about this day. Once I got home from school I went over to their apartment where we watched a Pokemon movie together.
FEBRUARY 28: Pink Day
On pink day I did the obvious: I wore pink. I don't have a ton of pink clothes, but I did have a pink cardigan to wear with my ballerina pink Tieks. Then of course I wore pink lipstick. If you don't know I'm a huge lipstick person. Red is my favorite, but I do have my fair share of pinks.
MARCH 1: Pig Day
This day was a real struggle for me because a was on campus from 8am to almost midnight with only one small lunch break. Luckily Craig had my back, and when I got back from campus we made bacon sandwiches!

MARCH 2: Read Across America Day
March second is Dr. Seuss's birthday. Some of you might remember because you had read-a-thons in elementary school. My school always did and it was my favorite. I've loved to read for as long as I can remember. We'd sit with my mom and read stories. I remember being a little kid and my dad had a bookshelf in his office of all of his "grown up books." I'd go and look through the glass doors at all the books I hoped to one day read. When I was in kindergarten Jessica pulled a book titled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone off of the book shelf. My parents were so proud that she was reading a real chapter book. I wanted to be cool and impressive, just like my big sister, so I also started reading Harry Potter. In the sixteen years since that day I have read the Harry Potter series twenty-three times and I'm starting it again for the twenty-fourth. To say I love Harry Potter is an understatement, and it has definitely contributed to my love of reading.
For Read Across America Day I started my day off by going to Pioneer Book (my favorite used bookstore) and bought all of their copies of The Sorcerer's Stone. I then went the elementary school my mom works at and gave random little kids copies of Harry Potter. It seems like less and less people like reading anymore, but everyone still likes presents. Maybe, just maybe some of these kids will see this present and want to read. Hopefully I've helped some kids to fall in love with reading just like I did.
MARCH 3: Cold Cuts Day
Kam and I went to Jimmy Johns and got sandwiches. My favorite is #1 (The Pepe).
MARCH 4: Pound Cake Day
I tried my hand at making pound cake today. I made lemon and vanilla pound cakes and had whipped cream and strawberries to put on top. I love to cook, but I have one issue: I always make too much. I just figure it's better to have too much than not enough, and then I end up with WAYYYYY too much. Making pound cake was no different. I doubled the recipe so I could do half vanilla and half lemon. It ended up making so much batter that I over filled the pans and created this mess when it rose:
It tasted better than it looked, and it looked a lot better when it was all dressed up with strawberries and whipped cream.
My favorite day this week was definitely Read Across America day, since reading is something I find very important and think should always be celebrated. Check back in next week for some super fun holidays including Meatball Day (Friday) and Mario Day (Saturday) and feel free to celebrate along with me!
