Week 16: High Fives and Cheddar Fries

APRIL 16: Eggs Benedict Day
In case you don't know, Eggs Benedict is traditionally an English Muffin with ham, a poached egg, and topped with hollandaise sauce (a sauce made mainly from egg yolks, lemon juice, and butter). I decided to be super awesome for Eggs Benedict Day and actually make Eggs Benedict since it's one of my favorite breakfasts ever. I made homemade hollandaise sauce, poached the eggs, and everything. My only problem was that I didn't have english muffins, so I used bagels instead.

APRIL 17: Haiku Day
For haiku day I did the obvious and wrote a haiku:

Happy Haiku Day
Celebrating is awesome
That's the end of that

Not the best, but it worked. P.S. in The Trials of Apollo series by Rick Riordan all the chapter titles are Haikus and I think that's pretty awesome.

APRIL 18: Animal Crackers
For animal cracker day I bought chocolate animal crackers, frosted animal cracker cookies, and those Barnum and Bailey's animal cracker boxes. I then brought them over to my friend's apartment.

APRIL 19: High Five
On High Five Day my manager Camry dared me to go up to one of the tables I was serving and say "Happy National High Five Day!" and the proceed to walk around the table high fiving all of my customers. It was kind of awkward at first, but I did it, and the tip they gave me wasn't so bad.

APRIL 20: Cheddar Fries
Ah, cheese fries, what a glorious pile of greasy, gooey, cheesy deliciousness. For Cheddar Fries Day (which, ironically, happened to fall on a Friday) my parents took me to Buffalo Wild Wings and we got cheese fries.

APRIL 21: Chocolate Covered Cashews
My mom and I went to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for Chocolate Covered Cashew day and bought a Cashew Cluster. We also got our favorite: a frozen chocolate covered banana with nuts, which we always spend the whole time making hilarious, immature jokes about because we are 13 year old boys apparently. It's the best.

APRIL 22: Earth Day
Luckily, Earth Day fell on a beautiful, sunny Sunday, so I put my convertible top down and went for a ride and just enjoyed the amazing world around me. I love living in a place where a drive up the canyon is so doable. There's so many wonderful things around us if we just take a moment to stop and appreciate it.

My favorite holiday this week was Eggs Benedict Day. I love holidays that challenge me to make new things and get me in the kitchen.
